The Opportunity

We are looking for a proactive, commercially minded Customer Development Executive with a strong focus on Import & Export FCL Seafreight. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building relationships, negotiating with suppliers, and converting opportunities into long-term business.

You'll play a key part in driving growth by preparing competitive quotations, strengthening customer relationships, and identifying new market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Quotation & Pricing

  • Prepare accurate and competitive quotations across all transport modes, with a primary focus on FCL Seafreight.
  • Ensure all quotation fields are completed, notes are added, and correct terms & conditions are included.
  • Liaise with carriers, hauliers, agents, and airlines to negotiate the best possible rates.
  • Use available tariffs effectively when creating quotes.

Customer Engagement

  • Maintain regular communication with customers during the pricing stage, offering updates, timelines, and industry guidance where needed.
  • Make follow-up calls to gather feedback, assess competitiveness, and log outcomes accurately.
  • Lead on building and nurturing strong customer relationships across all levels.
  • Reconnect with existing customers where activity has decreased.

Business Development

  • Follow up warm leads provided by operational teams.
  • Develop strong product knowledge to confidently upsell and identify new opportunities.
  • Research potential growth areas, market trends, and new opportunities.
  • Meet customers via phone, Teams, or in person, in line with performance expectations.

Internal Collaboration & Standards

  • Work closely with other Development teams to share insights and maximise procurement advantages.
  • Ensure all sales processes and guidelines (GDPR, expenses, gifting policies) are followed.
  • Support and mentor new starters joining the Development team.
