Gambit Search is working with an exciting, early-stage business operating at the intersection of technology and professional services. As the company continues to grow, they are looking to appoint their first dedicated salesperson, someone who will take ownership of the customer journey from the initial enquiry through to conversion.

This is an opportunity to join a small, ambitious team at an important stage of its growth, with the chance to help shape how the business sells, influence the sales process and, ultimately, play a key role in building out the wider commercial function.

The Opportunity

The business helps company directors navigate the process of closing their companies, supporting both solvent businesses and those facing financial difficulties.

As the Sales Consultant, you will be the key point of contact for prospective customers. You will speak directly with company directors, understand their circumstances, explain the options available to them and guide them towards the appropriate solution.

This is a consultative sales role, but one where you will also be expected to close. There is no handing the customer over to someone more senior, you will own the conversation from the initial call through to the customer signing.

The business currently converts around 30-50% of properly followed-up qualified leads, with an initial expectation of approximately 30 qualified leads per month and around 10 completed cases.

Leads are generated predominantly through paid search, with a significant proportion coming from sectors such as construction, restaurants and hospitality.

The typical customer is a sole director or small business owner, often with 1-5 employees and between £10k and £100k of debt. Many are facing a situation where their available cash is running out within weeks.

That means this is not a traditional transactional sales environment. Your ability to listen, understand someone's situation and communicate clearly and empathetically will be just as important as your ability to close.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Taking ownership of inbound enquiries and following up qualified leads
  • Speaking with company directors by phone to understand their circumstances
  • Identifying the appropriate solution based on each customer's situation
  • Explaining the process clearly and confidently
  • Handling difficult or sensitive questions and concerns
  • Building trust with customers who may be under significant financial pressure
  • Managing the customer journey from initial conversation through to signed engagement
  • Closing opportunities and taking responsibility for your own conversion rate
  • Following up leads that have not initially converted
  • Helping refine and improve the company's sales process
  • Working closely with the founders to develop the commercial approach
  • Using your experience to help shape the future sales team as the business grows
What They're Looking For

You could come from a range of backgrounds, including:

  • Banking or financial services
  • Mortgage advice
  • Insurance
  • Probate
  • Debt advice
  • Other consultative or regulated sales environments

The common thread is that you will have experience speaking with people who are worried about their financial or personal circumstances, remaining calm and professional, understanding what they actually need and helping them reach a decision.

You'll need to be:

  • Naturally comfortable spending much of your day on the phone
  • Empathetic without being afraid to ask for the business
  • A strong listener who can adapt your communication style to different people
  • Confident handling sensitive and sometimes emotional conversations
  • Commercially driven and motivated by achieving targets
  • Self-disciplined and capable of working independently in a fully remote environment

Insolvency experience is not required. Full training, resources and ongoing access to the founders will be provided.

Why This Role?

This is a genuine opportunity to join a business at an early stage of its growth and have a meaningful influence on what comes next.

You won't be joining an established sales team with a predefined territory and a fixed process. You'll be the first salesperson.

The package includes:
  • £40,000 basic salary
  • c. £64,000 OTE
  • Uncapped commission
  • Fully remote working anywhere in the UK
  • Sensible working hours
