We are recruiting for a Specification Sales Manager / Area Sales Manager for a well-established, market-leading manufacturer within the electrical sector.

This is a field-based technical sales and territory management role covering the N and NW London postcode areas, working with local authorities, housing associations, electrical contractors, installers, distributors, electrical wholesalers and other specifier-led customers.

This opportunity may suit someone currently working as an Area Sales Manager, Field Sales Manager, Technical Sales Manager, Specification Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Sales Engineer or Account Manager within the electrical, technical product, building product, distributor, wholesaler or contractor-led market.

This is an established territory that has achieved £2.1m of this year s £3.6m turnover target, making it a strong and active area with existing relationships to manage, develop and grow, as well as having lots of new business potential.

On offer is a basic salary of up to £55,000, with an OTE guide of around £100,000 per year, plus company car and wider benefits. The current company car is a BMW X3 Hybrid, and the business is moving towards fully electric company cars. Electric car drivers are provided with a charging card, so there is no requirement to have a home charger.

As the Specification Sales Manager / Area Sales Manager, you will be:

• Responsible for continued sales growth across the N and NW London postcode areas.
• Targeting product specification on Local Authority, Housing Association and other specifier-led projects.
• Building relationships with electrical contractors, architects, new build developers, M&E contractors, installers and distributors.
• Supporting the distribution network, including electrical wholesalers, as the specification specialist for the area.
• Producing territory reports and using the CRM system to record visits, specifications, opportunities and customer activity.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to demonstrate:

• Area sales, field sales, technical sales or specification sales experience within the electrical sector, technical products, building products or a similar industry.
• Experience working for a manufacturer, which can include making the move from an electrical wholesaler to a manufacturer within the last 12 months.
• Experience selling into or working closely with electrical wholesalers, distributors, contractors, specifiers, housing associations, local authorities or similar customers.
• Strong territory planning, business development, communication and appointment-setting skills.
• A full UK driving licence and the ability to manage a field-based sales territory.

Location

The role is responsible for the N and NW postcode areas.

Candidates based in or around N and NW, IG, E, W, EN, WC, EC, UB1, UB5, UB6, AL1, AL2, AL4, AL9, AL10, suitable HA postcodes and suitable WD postcodes are likely to be well placed for the territory. There is some flexibility on home location for strong candidates, provided they can clearly demonstrate that they are able to travel into, cover and manage the N and NW London postcode areas effectively.
