A Data Migration Lead is required by a growing IT software company to lead large-scale, end-to-end data migration onto its enterprise platform. The role will entail shaping the migration approach, bridging business and technology teams, and overseeing the analysis, transformation and validation of data throughout the migration. You will be responsible for: - Leading end-to-end data migration activities.
- Defining and managing migration strategies, plans and approaches across multiple source and target systems.
- Profiling and analysing Legacy data to assess quality, structure and transformation requirements.
- Designing and implementing data transformation, cleansing, standardisation, deduplication and mapping processes using Databricks.
- Developing and maintaining detailed source-to-target mapping specifications, including transformation rules, key and identifier mapping, defaulting logic and data exclusions.
- Designing automated reconciliation and validation processes, including row-level and value-level checks, control totals, referential integrity and field-level validation.
- Planning and leading mock migrations, rehearsals and production cutovers, including runbooks and post-migration verification.
- Working closely with business stakeholders, Legacy SMEs and technical teams to understand business processes, define data requirements and resolve migration issues.
- Leading UAT activities and coordinating defect resolution.
- Identifying and mitigating data quality, security, regulatory and operational risks throughout the migration life cycle.
Required experience and skills: - Extensive experience in enterprise data migration, with experience leading global migration or data transformation programmes.
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks including Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
- SQL and PySpark.
- Strong understanding of data mapping, data modelling, cleansing, normalisation, deduplication and entity resolution.
- Experience developing automated data reconciliation, validation and data quality checks.
- Experience migrating master and transactional finance data into a cloud ERP, including knowledge of opening balances, period controls and financial reconciliation.
- Salesforce experience will be beneficial.
- Experience working with undocumented or bespoke Legacy applications and complex source data environments.
- Software engineering experience, including version control, code review, CI/CD and automated testing for data pipelines.
- Data transformation tools experience.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data migration issues into clear business language.
- Experience working within North American regulatory environments would be advantageous.
