Alcedo Selection is proud to be partnering with a leading specialist materials distributor and converter, seeking an ambitious and commercially driven individual to join its growing sales team.

With over 45 years of industry experience and the backing of a major international group, the business supplies high-performance plastic films, adhesive tapes and specialist bonding solutions to customers across the automotive, aerospace, electronics and wider industrial manufacturing sectors.

As a 3M Preferred Converter, the company works with globally recognised manufacturers and offers extensive in-house conversion capabilities, including precision slitting, sheeting, laminating and bespoke material solutions.

The business operates across two complementary markets: the distribution of branded technical materials and the provision of value-added conversion services tailored to individual customer applications.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive salesperson who enjoys developing customer relationships, identifying new business and taking ownership of commercial opportunities.

Working closely with the Sales Manager, you'll be responsible for developing new and existing accounts, generating profitable sales and expanding the company's presence across its specialist markets.

This is not simply an order-processing or reactive customer service position. We're looking for someone who is motivated by winning business, enjoys engaging with customers and takes genuine satisfaction from turning opportunities into profitable orders.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively generate new business through outbound sales activity, prospecting and customer engagement.
• Develop existing accounts, identifying opportunities to increase customer spend and introduce additional products.
• Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline, recording and progressing opportunities through CRM.
• Identify new applications and markets for specialist films, adhesives and conversion services.
• Prepare competitive quotations and actively follow up to maximise conversion rates.
• Build strong relationships with customers, understanding their applications and recommending appropriate material solutions.
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to maximise gross profit while maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Reactivate dormant accounts and develop relationships with previously untapped customers.
• Work closely with purchasing, inventory and production teams to ensure customer requirements are delivered effectively.
• Monitor sales performance, customer activity and gross profit, taking ownership of agreed commercial objectives.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong commercial instincts with the enthusiasm and determination to generate business.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience in B2B sales, account management or business development.
• A proactive, confident approach to telephone sales and customer engagement.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Good commercial awareness, particularly around pricing, margins and profitability.
• The ability to identify opportunities and follow them through to completion.
• A structured, organised approach to managing sales activity and customer relationships.
• A willingness to develop technical product knowledge and understand customer applications.

Experience in industrial distribution, technical materials, adhesives, plastics, packaging, electrical wholesale or similar sectors would be advantageous, although specific product knowledge is not essential.
