We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Area Sales Manager on behalf of an established and expanding business operating within the forklift and materials handling sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is ambitious, commercially minded and confident dealing with people, but wants the training and support to develop into a successful field-based sales professional.

THE OPPORTUNITY

You will join an established sales operation and receive full training on the forklift and materials handling industry, products and sales process.

Initially working alongside experienced sales professionals, you will learn how to identify opportunities, generate new business, develop customer relationships and ultimately manage your own sales territory across the West Midlands.

This isn't simply a telesales position. The role will develop into a genuine field-based Area Sales position, with responsibility for winning new customers and growing existing accounts.

There is a clear career path for the right person, with the opportunity to progress into a fully autonomous Area Sales Manager role.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Learning the company's forklift and materials handling product range.
• Identifying potential customers and new business opportunities throughout the West Midlands.
• Developing leads through telephone, email and proactive business development.
• Booking and attending customer meetings.
• Working alongside experienced sales professionals to develop your sales technique.
• Building relationships with new and existing customers.
• Developing a sales pipeline and progressing opportunities through to completion.
• Maintaining accurate customer and prospect information using CRM systems.
• Gradually taking ownership of your own customer base and geographical territory.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The most important thing is attitude and ambition.

You don't need to be an experienced forklift salesperson. Previous sales experience would be advantageous, but the company is also open to people from other backgrounds who can demonstrate the right qualities.

You should be:

• Confident speaking to customers and business decision-makers.
• Commercially aware and target driven.
• Resilient and able to deal with rejection.
• Comfortable picking up the phone and generating new business.
• A strong communicator.
• Organised and self-motivated.
• Keen to learn and develop a long-term career in sales.
• Comfortable working in a field-based role.
• In possession of a full UK driving licence.
