Clemtech Recruitment is supporting an established rail engineering business looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to support its continued growth across Scotland.

This is a commercially focused position requiring someone with a strong understanding of rail production environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing relationships across the Scottish rail market, identifying new opportunities and building a sustainable pipeline of work.

The role could suit an experienced Business Development Manager with a background in rail production, or someone who has worked within a rolling stock production, maintenance, overhaul or depot environment and is looking to move into a commercially focused role.

The Role

Working closely with senior leadership, you will take a proactive approach to developing new business opportunities across Scotland.

You will spend time in the market, meeting rail organisations, developing relationships and gaining an understanding of their current and upcoming production requirements.

Your production experience will allow you to understand how rail maintenance and production environments operate, recognise potential opportunities and develop initial conversations into genuine business opportunities.

Regular travel across Scotland will form an important part of the position, with the successful candidate expected to develop a strong network and presence within the Scottish rail market.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities across the Scottish rail market.
• Build relationships with prospective and existing clients.
• Regularly visit client sites and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
• Understand client production requirements, workloads and upcoming programmes.
• Identify opportunities where additional engineering and production support may be required.
• Develop a sustainable pipeline of new business.
• Progress opportunities from initial conversations through to defined requirements.
• Work closely with senior leadership and internal teams to support continued business growth.
• Maintain clear visibility of business development activity and pipeline progress.

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who understand rail production and rolling stock environments.

You should have:

• Strong experience within the rail industry.
• Experience working within or closely alongside rolling stock production, maintenance, overhaul, modification or depot environments.
• A good understanding of how rail production environments operate and the challenges they face.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence engaging with stakeholders across the rail industry.
• A proactive and commercially minded approach to identifying new opportunities.
• Previous business development, account management or commercial experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• A relevant production, engineering or rail qualification would be advantageous.
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Package

Salary: 60,000 - 80,000 DOE
Commission: Commission structure available
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility
Business Travel: Business mileage paid
